Overview

Mold removal that addresses the cause, not just the colony.

At HBH - Healthy Buildings & Homes, our certified technicians follow industry-leading protocols to safely and effectively remove mold from residential and commercial properties. Every remediation begins with the same question: where is the moisture coming from? Without solving that, mold returns.

We protect the health of your family or employees with full containment, negative-air HEPA filtration, and post-remediation verification — the same standards used in hospitals and clean rooms.

  • Full containment with negative air pressure
  • Antimicrobial treatment of affected substrates
  • Moisture-source repair coordination
  • Post-remediation clearance testing available

What's included

What a professional mold remediation looks like.

Mold removal is a controlled process, not a cleanup. Cross-contamination, incomplete drying, or missing the moisture source are the three reasons most jobs fail. Here's how we prevent each one.

Pre-Remediation Assessment

Scope of work defined from the inspection report — every affected square foot accounted for.

Containment Setup

6-mil poly walls and zippered entries isolate the work area from the rest of the home.

Negative Air & HEPA Filtration

AFDs with HEPA filtration prevent spore migration during demolition and cleanup.

Controlled Removal

Affected porous materials (drywall, insulation, carpet) removed and bagged inside containment.

HEPA Vacuuming & Cleaning

Full surface cleaning, HEPA vacuuming, and antimicrobial treatment of all remaining substrates.

Post-Remediation Verification

Visual inspection and optional third-party clearance sampling before containment is broken down.

Our Process

A clear, certified workflow — start to finish.

01

Inspection & Assessment

Our certified technicians thoroughly inspect affected areas, assess severity, and locate the hidden moisture sources fueling the growth.

02

Containment & Removal

We isolate the contaminated zone to prevent spore migration, then safely remove mold using HEPA-filtered equipment and certified protocols.

03

Restoration & Prevention

We address structural drying and provide concrete recommendations — ventilation, moisture management, ongoing inspections — to prevent recurrence.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Questions we hear most often. Don't see yours? Reach out and we'll answer.

How much does mold removal cost on Long Island?+

Cost is driven by affected square footage, the type of materials involved, and the containment complexity. Small bathroom or closet jobs are very different from full basement or whole-house remediation. We provide a fixed-scope written quote after the inspection.

How long does mold remediation take?+

Most residential projects complete in 2–5 working days, plus drying time. Larger commercial or whole-house jobs take longer. We give you a realistic timeline upfront.

Do I need to leave the house during mold removal?+

Often the work area is fully contained and you can remain in unaffected parts of the home. For larger jobs, whole-house HVAC contamination, or sensitive occupants, temporary relocation may be recommended.

Will my homeowner's insurance cover mold remediation?+

Coverage depends on the cause. Mold resulting from a covered water loss (a burst pipe, for example) is often partially covered, while long-term humidity or maintenance issues usually are not. We document everything in a way that supports your claim.

Do you offer post-remediation clearance testing?+

Yes. We strongly recommend independent third-party clearance testing for any significant remediation — it's the only objective proof the job was done right.

What's the difference between mold removal and mold remediation?+

Removal is the physical act of taking out affected material. Remediation is the full process — containment, removal, cleaning, moisture-source repair, and verification — that returns the space to a normal fungal ecology.
