Mold testing & inspection done right the first time.

At HBH - Healthy Buildings & Homes, we specialize in indoor environmental investigations and mold assessments across Long Island and the Tri-State area. As one of the only East End firms with a Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) on staff, our inspections go beyond surface-level testing — we identify the underlying moisture source driving the growth so it doesn't return.

Whether you're a homeowner worried about a musty basement, a buyer ordering a pre-purchase mold inspection, or a property manager handling a tenant complaint, we provide independent, conflict-free testing with full lab reporting.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Questions we hear most often. Don't see yours? Reach out and we'll answer.

How much does a mold inspection cost on Long Island?+

Pricing depends on property size and the number of samples needed. Most single-family residential inspections fall within a predictable range — we provide a flat-rate quote upfront after a short call. No surprise add-ons.

Do I need a mold inspection if I can't see mold?+

Often, yes. The majority of problem mold growth on Long Island is hidden behind walls, in crawl spaces, in HVAC systems, or under flooring. Unexplained musty odors, allergy-like symptoms, or a history of water intrusion are all valid reasons to test.

How long does a mold inspection take?+

Most residential inspections take 1–2 hours on site. Lab turnaround for samples is typically 3–5 business days; you receive your full written report shortly after.

Can you do a pre-purchase mold inspection?+

Yes — we work with buyers, attorneys, and real-estate agents regularly across Nassau, Suffolk, and the Hamptons. Reports are formatted for use in due diligence and negotiations.

Are you licensed to do mold testing in New York?+

Yes. We are Licensed New York State Mold Assessors with a Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) on staff — one of only a handful of firms in the region with that credential.

Do you also remove the mold you find?+

We separate assessment from remediation to keep our testing independent. We offer remediation through our HB&H team as a separate, transparently scoped engagement — never bundled into the inspection.
